As previously mentioned, I was job hunting since November 2002 and gave my resume to friends, posted it online at job sites, as well as on my computer website. As a result I received a late X-mas present in form of an email from Zone Labs, a well-known and successful company in San Francisco that creates firewall software. Apparently their recruiter found my website via Google and decided that I would be a good fit for their position as Enterprise Support Engineer. A few phone calls and interviews later I had a new job. Woohoo! Such luck given the current economy (bottom of the dot-bomb era) is unbelievable.
Instead of fighting with Silly Valley traffic every morning I take the train – Bart – to San Francisco and walk from the train station to the office. Low stress, and one hour time to read, listen to music, work, or whatever.
