Friday after Thanksgiving is generally known as "Black Friday", the first day of the Christmas shopping season and usually the time when retailers start making profits for the year. People go nuts that day in order to go shopping, take advantage of great deals offered that day, and be in the store before the shelves are cleaned out.
This picture was taken at midnight on Thursday before Black Friday at Fry’s Electronics in Fremont, CA. Yes, a line of several hundred people, armed with camping equipment, wrapping around the building, waiting through the night to be first in the store when it opens at 5am. Long live capitalism!
